New Births

The church where I pastor had an opportunity in the last year to watch a family grow as one of our young couples gave birth to their first child. The excitement that filled the church was unbelievable. Everyone was overjoyed for this sweet family.

Noticing this joy, I began to think how remarkable it would be if this joy filled my church every week. Then I realized that we could experience this joy through the spiritual birth of a new believer.

John 3:3, “Jesus answers and said to him, ‘Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.’”

Over the past month we have seen three decisions made for Christ. Two of those decisions were of a couple coming and giving their heart and life to Christ and the other was through door-to-door evangelism.

Pastor, let me encourage you to challenge your people to share Christ on a regular basis, and model before them how to go about sharing their faith. Make it a part of your weekly ministry to take a member with you on a specific visit where you know the gospel message is going to be shared. Modeling evangelism through every day life and specific visitations will help prepare them to do the same.

Proverbs 11:30, “The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, And he who is wise wins souls.”

My goal as a pastor is to train and teach God’s saints what it means to be wise. One way, I can know if wisdom is in my church is if the church is about winning souls.
